A few words in memory of my grandmother:
Marial Manstein, Mira Leah Manstein, former name
Boyar.
Born in Boston.
A Jewish mother and grandmother, with a PhD in
chemistry from Penn State University, a housewife and a
cook.
Raised 5 children and tens of grandchildren.
Believed in all of them.
Believed strongly in the power of education.
Abhorred and opposed religious fanaticism but practiced
traditional Judaism (such as lighting of the candles
before the Sabbath).
Had a big heart, and led a life of charity. Loved people.
Wanted her grandchildren to dress well, especially the
boys, and wear decent suits and ties. Was a fan of JFK
and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
I was her first grandson and she raised me until the age of
four.
Lived a very active life as a tennis player and travelled
throughout the world with my grandfather.
May her soul know rest and peace.
