Joshua Tartakovsky is an independent journalist and filmmaker. He grew up in Jerusalem in a religious environment and served as an infantry soldier and combat medic in the Israeli army. Joshua is a graduate of Brown University with a BA in International Relations and a MSc from the London School of Economics. He conducted research for various NGOs and think-tanks around the world, such as the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs in Israel, the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Sarajevo and the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin. He then went on to teach English in the the favela of Rocinha in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and volunteered for various NGOs there. Joshua’s experiences in the favelas opened his eyes to the reality in Occupied Palestine and he documented the reality there as a photojournalist, reporter and activist. Joshua produced a film interviewing Palestinian students in the Occupied West Bank. As a journalist, Joshua published in various online publications on Greece, Latin America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Israel and Palestine. He is interested in politics, history and culture. As a frequent traveler he learned much from encountering people around the world and enjoys writing on places he lived in.
